It’s been a short while when smartphones and tablets got into our lives, no one could predict the grand effect of applications, that would turn into an addiction even a lifestyle. Lately,  applications have begun to help both teachers and students in language learning. If you are a smartphone or tablet user, such applications will save your time, make it easier and enjoyable to practice Spanish at any time.

Dictionary applications are one of the most preferred and some also post “Word of the day” with text and audio examples. The most important thing about these apps is whether it requires internet connection all the time and the accuracy of their meanings.

Games are the most effective way to acquire new words. Pasapalabra, for example, is an entertaining game that you guess the word by given the first letter as a clue along with a description.

Phrases are usually difficult to be kept in mind or easy to mix up. When you want to order a drink in a bar, when you get lost or need any help, you may not remember all the relevant phrases at that moment. Some applications like Phrasebook makes it available to reach the most useful phrases and expressions. To listen the pronunciation from the text is also an advantage.

National Spanish Radio (Radio Nacional de España) also has an application which you can download several music channels and get the latest news about Spain. In addition many newspapers like El País offer online news, videos and commentary for free.

Books are essential to study a language and can help you to relate the words with the plot so you naturally recognize them. For kids audio and visual support enable them to memorize the words in a more attractive way. It is available to read and listen lots of books in Spanish on your phone or more comfortably on your tablet.

These kind of applications are great contributors yet not enough to assimilate a language thoroughly. In order to speak a language it is necessary to spend some time in that country, communicate with native people, get to know the culture and live the language. However, taking the small steps with applications would bring you the big results in learning Spanish.
