Acapulco plans to create a sexy police squad to boost tourism

by Kimberly

The Public Security Minister of the Mexican state of Guerrero, Ramón Almonte Borja, has announced plans to help restore tourism to Acapulco’s beach resorts.

They will hire a police force of beautiful women; aged 18-35, dress them in a provocative special uniform, and assign them to patrol the many ocean resorts and provide security for tourists in Acapulco. They will also be on hand to resolve any problems that tourists may have.

Now the requirements are not just good looks, these lucky women must also be high school graduates who speak foreign languages.

Acapulco, Mexico, once known as a major tourist destination, has suffered from the negative effects of drug related crimes and violence. Borja hopes that this ploy will make tourists feel safer and restore dwindling tourism to the area.

Borja hopes that the sexy police uniforms will bring attention to the area and become as well recognized as the London “bobbies”.

Tourism is the third most important part of the Mexican economy, after oil exports and money transfers from Mexican immigrants. Acapulco hopes to get its share of the pie back by providing tourists with special protection after all the recent negative publicity.

Now it is just a matter of time to see how many women are brave enough to sign up. The city is also trying to fill 120 "normal" police vacancies plus and additional 150 he wishes to create. The problem is that after a rash of extreme police violence, it remains unclear if he will be able to fill these positions.
