Penelope Cruz among the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

by Lindsay Cook

Penelope Cruz is the first Spanish actress to have her name on one of the Hollywood stars in Los Angeles.

Her star is number 2, 436 and is located just in front of the Capitan Theatre. The fact that Penelope has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame shows just how famous and popular she has become!

In the ceremony last week Penelope was accompanied by her husband Javier Bardem and also Johnny Depp with whom she has been filming the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film. She was wearing a purple dress which showed off her figure, which was impressive given that just a few months ago she gave birth to her first child!

In her speech Penelope thanked her family and siblings for all the support they have given her. She also thanked her husband and son for making her happy every day. She said in Spanish at the end of her speech “es un dia muy especial y feliz para mi” (that it was a very special and happy day for her.)

She also talked about how much she had grown as a person describing how when she arrived in Los Angeles in 1994 she could hardly speak English, and only knew how to say “how are you” and “I want to work with Johnny Depp.”

Penelope was the first Spanish star to receive and Oscar. She won this for her role in the Woody Allen film; Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona in 2008.

Penelope Cruz, as she has joined the famous Spanish actors Julio Iglesias, Plácido Domingo and Antonio Banderas on the Hollywood walk of fame, will now be immortalized in Hollywood!
